Men’s Health Week: Blokepedia on Mates, Mentors & Role-Models

Reported, Produced & Edited by Daniel Pizarro

As the footy played on the screens at The Dock in Kingston, a panel discussion on the issue of men and boy’s health was underway, but this was no ordinary discussion: it was on Mateship, Mentoring and role-models for Men’s Health Week.

Hosted by Blokepedia, guests heard stories from former Raiders Co-Captain and Five-eight, Terry Campese, former Brumbies Prop, Ben Alexander and the creator of the ‘Healthy Tradie’ project, Pip Seldon. The three told of their different experiences, from life after sport, being in a leadership position to managing in the construction industry.

For Ben Alexander, one of the toughest experiences he and his team had to come through was the death of Shawn Mackay 10 years ago; who was tragically killed after being hit by a police car in Durban, South Africa.
